Conditional Voter Registration Begins for June 5 Election
The Sacramento County Department of Voter Registration and Elections (DVRE) announced that Conditional Voter Registration (CVR) begins today. Effective as of January 2017, this extends the existing traditional voter registration deadline to eligible voters, allowing Sacramento County residents to conditionally register and vote a provisional ballot from May 22 through Election Day.
Eligible citizens who missed the May 21 deadline can take advantage of this new process and complete their CVR in a few simple steps. First, an individual must obtain and complete a voter registration form available at the Elections Office or at any Vote Center once they open on May 26. Upon completion of the form, a DVRE representative will then provide the individual with a CVR provisional ballot which must be voted at the time and location it is received.
Once the registration form has been processed and DVRE verifies the individual's eligibility to register, the voter registration becomes permanent and the CVR provisional ballot will be counted in the June election. Conditional voter registrations are treated and processed the same as other registrations.
